Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm
Overview
Leads and supports to design chemical laboratory processes, tests, and analysis to ensure quality and safety, always keeping in mind our client’s Operating Priorities of Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
Responsibilities
- Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control.
- Prepare chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
- Test and analyze chemicals to determine purity.
- Document results of tests and analyses.
- Prepare and graph statistical information on data using ideas and tools associated with Statistical Process Control. Use them for process improvement and enhancement of detectability in the lab.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory.
- Participate in planning for lab activities.
- Lead training and development of Laboratory Assistants.
- Participate in developing new analysis methods on new or existing tools.
- Lead gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility studies.
- Lead MSA Studies
- Monitor and review equipment using statistical process control / Long Term Stability and take appropriate action for out-of-control situations according to response plans.
- Utilize ERP system to move product to next operation and notify plant of out-of-control product.
- Generate and execute ideas for quality and process improvements.
- Lead documentation of standard operating procedures
- Communicate with other company departments regarding quality issues and information being generated in the laboratory.
- Participate in the laboratory’s close collaboration with production/production technical/quality assurance teams for department improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or closely related field from a four-year college or university. College level courses in statistics are desirable.
- 2-5 years of directly relevant work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer/PC competency is essential. Must be proficient working in MS Office (especially Excel, Access, and Word). Experience utilizing statistical analysis programs preferred (JMP).
