Job Title: Tool Designer
Location: ONSITE - Waterloo, Iowa (50701)
Type: W2 contract (NO C2C OR THIRD PARTY)
Length: 36 month contract (Contract extension expectation)
Pay Rate – Negotiable depending on DIRECT-related experience
Work Authorization: NO Visa (OPT/CPT, H1B) - Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the near future, for this position.
Tool Designer / Tool Modeler - Waterloo, Iowa (50701)
Description:
- Plans, coordinates, and performs designs for complex components and assemblies using the preferred 3-Dimensional (3D) Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tool and protocols.
Duties to execute the Tool Design process for assigned projects include:
- Review assigned work orders (WO)
- Design concept up to 20% of project scope
- Complete design modeling & complete design detailed drawings (including CAD geometry needed for manufacturing)
- Notify company Tool Design procurement when the design is complete
- Deliver build prints and review projects with Company Tool Makers
- Attend fit/function test with Tool Maker and ME present
- Provide troubleshooting input as required
- Update design to “As-Built” prints
Ongoing Expectations:
- Prioritize WOs and adjust project due dates
- Accommodate design changes
- Perform all work on-site using tools such as Creo, Smart Assembly, PDM Link, UGS TeamCenter, AutoCAD, Ansys
- Complete required safety and ergonomics training
- Attend required staff meetings
- Update SAP with electronic time entry and WO status
- Use PDM Link for CAD file storage-retrieval and MS Outlook for communications
- Transfer data securely via FileZilla or company approved methods
Requirements:
- Experience with Creo or Solid modeling
- Knowledge of fabrication methods
- Engineering background
Preferred Skills:
- Programming experience (C , Python, SQL)
- Project Management experience
- Supply Management/Purchasing experience
