Job Title: Controller
Annual Starting Pay From: $85,000 ($40.87/Hour)
Salary/Hourly wages may be adjusted based upon experience.
Type of position: Full-time
Hours: 40 /week, Exempt
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our construction firm. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of financial management within the construction industry and will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of our organization. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting and ensuring that all financial practices comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards. The Controller will lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, as well as provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. This position requires a proactive individual who can drive efficiencies in financial operations while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The Controller must possess exceptional leadership skills and be capable of fostering a positive team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Plans, organizes, reviews, and executes accounting and financial programs and projects.
- Provides overall management and performance of the general duties of their assigned team members.
- Assists with the annual audit.
- Oversee all accounting functions and manage personnel, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
- Maintain and cultivate relationships with banking and financial institutions.
- Support the management and negotiation of liability, auto, and inland marine insurance policies.
- Reviews and assist as needed with capital asset accounts reconciliation process.
- Prepare and review journal entries.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Analyzes problems, completes assignments, and prepares reports documenting findings and solutions to problems.
- Reviews yearend tax forms.
- Review all financial transactions.
- Completes special assignments as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of professional accounting principles and practices, office management.
- Thorough knowledge of financial analysis techniques.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the operations of computerized accounting systems.
- Thorough knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
- Knowledge of departmental, legal, administrative, and procedural regulations.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern office administration.
- Ability to conduct complex verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing to groups and individuals.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with team members, supervisors, officials of other agencies, and the public.
- Ability to train, supervise and review the work of entry or supporting level accounting and administrative team members.
- Ability to prepare required reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
- Desire and ability to independently learn third party software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Five (5) years progressively responsible professional experience managing financial activities to include the preparation of monthly financial reports, accounting, budgeting, financial analysis.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
