Pay Range: PSE 1 Salary Schedule Substitutes subbing in PSE 1 positions will be paid at Step 1 of Schedule A appropriate for the position being subbed.
Benefits: This position will become eligible for medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance after working 630 hours in accordance with the School Employee Benefits Board rules and regulations. Information about benefits offered can be found HERE. Paid time off is offered in accordance with state law, one hour of sick leave is accrued for every 40 hours worked.
EDUCATION
High school diploma and/or recognized equivalent or prior job related experience; AND, must meet at least one of the following options per ESEA regulations: (1) hold an AA degree; OR (2) have completed at least two (2) years of study at an institution of higher learning (72 quarter hrs or 48 semester hrs - all at a 100 level or above); OR (3) successfully pass the Parapro Assessment (all 6 areas) developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS); OR (4) other areas as they become defined

- Demonstrated ability to get along well with students and faculty
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise students in all school areas
- Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students and the ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students
- Ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
- Demonstrated ability to work with individual students and small groups of students on planning appropriate behavior
- Previous experience or training working with students preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with parents and a variety of staff members
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and be able to project a positive, friendly and caring attitude toward others
- Ability to handle confidential matters appropriately and ethically
- Ability to work with records and charting
- Ability and willingness to participate in activities and responsibilities as assigned by classroom teacher
- Ability to efficiently operate common office equipment such as typewriter, copier, calculator, computer, etc.
- Willingness to take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Demonstrated ability to perform general office procedures
- Must be a "self-motivator" toward assigned duties
- Willingness to participate in in-service offerings and local workshops
- Ability to accept directions and criticism
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written work and be proficient in mathematics
- Neat, clean personal appearance and traits that make him/her a good role model for students; work apparel should be appropriate to promote a professional and safe work environment
- To work with individuals and/or groups of students on assigned tasks and in the implementation of the educational program
- Maintain records and produce instructional materials as directed
- Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, and in the cafeteria as needed
- Assist staff and students as directed
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
- Perform all other responsibilities as assigned
