Summary:
The Traffic Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of inbound and outbound shipments in our warehouse. This position is responsible for scheduling transportation, maintaining accurate shipping records, coordinating with carriers and internal teams, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company standards.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily outbound shipments, ensuring accurate and on-time deliveries.
- Schedule pick-ups with carriers and freight providers.
- Communicate with drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service to resolve delivery or pick-up issues.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, bills of lading, and freight documentation.
- Prepare shipping documents, labels, and required paperwork in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Track and trace shipments, providing updates to internal stakeholders as needed.
- Monitor carrier performance and report delays or issues.
- Work closely with the warehouse team to prioritize urgent shipments and maximize loading efficiencies.
- Support inventory management efforts by ensuring proper documentation and movement of goods.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with logistics-related problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- File claims as needed with FreightWise.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or logistics certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse coordination.
- Strong understanding of transportation and logistics processes.
- Familiarity with shipping software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency is a must).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or Logistics certification
Normal Working Hours and Conditions: Core business hours are generally 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. However, this position may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on Company operations.
Physical Requirements: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting including verbally communicating, seeing and hearing to exchange information and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. Daily physical functions include standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods of time and occasionally stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting. The employee may engage in lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds. The position also requires the operation of office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement.
