What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Purchasing position at Keltech Inc.?
The buyer is responsible for the procurement of material and issuance of purchase orders based on quality, price, and availability. This is done in accordance with production requirements and other specific requests.
- Purchase component, materials as required/needed via MRP/ERP system
- Purchase miscellaneous shop and production supplies via requisition
- Negotiate pricing- find the best source for the best price for Keltech
- Generate purchase orders in the system
- Initiate and maintain effective and professional relationships with suppliers
- Track status of orders – follow up and expedite as needed
- Contact suppliers and resolve any issues with shipments or materials
- Work with quality control when needed to resolve any quality issues with purchased materials
- Generate debit memos and/or material transfer forms when required
- Initiate forms to qualify (or disqualify) a supplier
- Work with Accounting to clarify and resolve any issues regarding receipts and/or credit
Requirements: Experience as a buyer, purchasing agent or similar role
Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices
Experience with an ERP or MRP system
Excellent computer skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office
Detail oriented
Good organizational skills
Good phone and negotiation skills
Required: Minimum 1 year experience in Purchasing/Procurement
Preferred but not required: Experience in an Electronics manufacturing environment'
