The Project Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing the financial performance of projects, ensuring accurate accounting, billing, and reporting while supporting compliance with organizational and industry standards. This role plays a critical part in tracking project profitability, ensuring timely milestone invoicing, and providing management with actionable financial insights.
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Oversee classification, invoicing milestones, and accounting for all jobs and job costs.
- Maintain and organize documentation to support customer billing and compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare and issue milestone billing and associated documentation accurately and on time.
- Conduct regular analysis of job performance, including revenue recognition, work-in-process calculations, and profitability assessments.
- Generate detailed financial reports (e.g., Project Cost Reports, Budget vs. Actuals) to support inquiries from management and clients.
- Prepare and record journal entries as required to support accurate accounting.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and internal policies in all financial reporting and processes.
- Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to track project budgets and identify cost variances.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in project accounting and recommending solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on job costing, project accounting, or construction accounting.
- Proficiency in financial software systems (D365 or SAP preferred).
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis.

- Exceptional analytical skills for identifying trends and discrepancies in financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.

Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job. Visits to our manufacturing facility and suppliers’ facilities is required to monitor active projects and address design issues.
