Overview

We're hiring! Kemin is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. This role will be actively involved in the development and execution of the Quality Management System including customer complaint management, root cause investigation, CAPA implementation, and toller monitoring.  The ideal candidate will have three years of experience in these areas, along with a Bachelor's Degree in a Science related field.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead internal audit(s), report findings, and corrective action(s), as necessary.
  • Determine internal audit schedule.
  • Participate in external audit(s), with minimal supervision, as needed.
  • Review Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) investigations and follow up, as applicable.
  • Review and approve batch record reviews, as applicable.
  • Must follow and aid in the creation of all procedures and SOPs/forms and assist with updates. Must maintain proper quality documentation.
  • Review and provide input for customer questionnaires, as applicable.
  • Perform Change Management tasks.
  • Review raw material, finished goods, and packaging release, with minimal supervision, as applicable.
  • Run reports, inputting and reviewing specifications as defined, as applicable.
  • Perform lot tracing, as applicable.
  • Investigate nonconformities, as applicable.
  • Develop and maintain the Quality Management System.
  • Verify documentation and follow up as applicable.
  • Evaluate potential new suppliers, in coordination with R&D and/or Purchasing.
  • Communicate with customers, under guidance.
  • Responsible for training, as applicable.
  • Contribute to reporting and deliver internal presentations.
  •  Provide data to support strategic plan and/or budget, as requested.
  • Must work closely with cross functional teams (including Operations, R&D, and other quality groups.)
  • Follows and maintains an environment of food and/or feed safety in compliance with rules and regulations, as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelors Degree in a Science related field with 3 years of related experience 
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team. 
  • Must have a solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership Philosophy.
  • Must be able to use computer systems; MS Office, M3, LIMS, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Familiarity with SPC principles and practices.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, perform maintenance, instruct and perform method validation on lab equipment.
