Summary :

The Superintendent at Kemp Bros Construction is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of large-scale construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires an experienced and highly skilled construction professional with a proven track record of managing projects valued at around $100 million or more. The Superintendent will lead on-site construction teams, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure that all work is performed safely and efficiently. This position is critical to the successful delivery of Kemp’s most significant and complex projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring that projects are executed according to plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and site staff, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely completion of all project milestones.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards, and address any issues that arise.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships.
  • Implement and enforce the company’s safety program, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring that all personnel on-site adhere to safety protocols.
  • Manage and resolve on-site issues, such as scheduling conflicts, resource allocation, and technical challenges, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and budgets.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on project progress, highlighting key achievements, risks, and any deviations from the plan.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control Manager to ensure that all work meets or exceeds company standards and complies with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents and other junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is maintained accurately and is up to date, including drawings, specifications, and inspection records.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on site activities and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Qualifications :

  • 10 years of experience in construction management , with a strong background in managing large-scale projects from start to finish.
  • Experience building airport facilities is required (e.g., terminals, runways, taxiways, or related infrastructure).
  • Strong knowledge of FAA, TSA, and airport security protocols
  • Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate on-site teams.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a focus on attention to detail and quality control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices, with a proactive approach to ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing project conditions and requirements.
  • Proficiency in construction management software, such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project, is a plus.
