Job Summary

The Elder Manager's primary responsibility is the oversight, management, and operation of the Tribe's Elder Center and programs. The Manager is responsible for grant and federal funding reports; managing budgetary and performance measures; promoting positive, collaborative relations with other departments. In addition, the Elders Manager will embrace the strategies and goals related to the Tribe's following programs: Food Services, Elders Activities, Elders Advocacy.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all Elder Program functions including meal preparation, meal service, meal delivery, Elder transportation and activities, Elder advocacy, and supervision of all Elder Program staff
  • Manage Elder advocacy including intake assessments, referral services, in-home assistance, transportation to medical appointments while ensuring documentation is completed
  • Provide oversight for the OVC Elder Abuse grant; review reports of harm case and report incidents of suspected Elder abuse and/or neglect, and adhere to all regulations for protection and safety of Elders
  • Identify grant opportunities within the Elders program and work with the Tribe's grants team to complete applications and ensure compliance with all grant requirements, monitor grant performance, renewal, and completion of all grant reporting requirements
  • Implement software programs; coordinate efforts with other departments and outside agencies to provide senior services, including Tribal Court, Social Services, Behavioral health, Wellness and community resources
  • Oversee the Elders Emergency Fund and fundraising activities
  • Conduct staff meetings, review timeclock entries, approve WorkPlace requests, and complete internal program reporting for Tribal Council and committee meetings
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors degree in a related field, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in Elders care
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience
  • Three (3) years of grant reporting experience

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

License/Certification

  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification or obtain within 90 days of hire
  • MANDT certified or obtain within 90 days of hire

Special Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide variety of people including employees, supervisors, agencies, and community members as a representative of the Tribal program Department.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving/analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills

This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
