What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Staff Accountant position at Kenan-Flagler Business School Executive Education, LLC?
The Accounts Payable Staff Accountant will be responsible for accurately maintaining financial records related to accounts payable, managing vendor processes, and submitting invoices for payment through the applicable systems. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this individual will ensure efficient invoice processing, timely payments and accurate recording of financial transactions while keeping detailed and organized records of vendors. This role will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with financial processes and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Set up vendors in the accounting and payment systems
- Vendor maintenance and additions
- Review, code and submit vendor invoices for payment
- Verify the accuracy of invoices
- Apply invoices to the correct projects and accounts in the accounting system
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Respond to and resolve inquiries from vendors and internal staff
- Track the value of supply and materials inventories
- Maintain accurate supply lists
- Credit card reconciliation and recording
- Backup to AR function
- Backup to Payroll function
- Assist and support other accounting projects and tasks as assigned
- Make journal entries as required to book accruals and prepayments
- Generate accounts payable reports as required
- Minimum qualifications include an associate’s degree preferably in accounting; two years’ experience in an Accounts Payable or similar role; and/or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency with accounting systems, QuickBooks Online highly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
The hiring range for this position is $60,000-$65,000 annually depending on level of experience. This role is also eligible to participate in a group and individual performance-based incentive compensation plan.
The Accounts Payable Staff Accountant is a non-exempt employee of the Kenan-Flagler Business School Executive Education, LLC, an affiliated organization of UNC-Chapel Hill. This position is not a University of North Carolina or State of North Carolina position.
