Kendal at Hanover is seeking a Carpenter. The Carpenter constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard that conform to local building codes. The person in this role will also act as a painter and general maintenance team member when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Studying blueprints, sketches, and/or building plans for information pertaining to the type of materials required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of the structure to be fabricated.
- Selecting a specified type of lumber and other materials.
- Preparing layout.
- Marking cutting and assembly lines on materials.
- Shaping materials to prescribed measurements.
- Assembling cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
- Erecting framework for structures and laying subflooring.
- Building stairs and laying out/installing partitions and cabinetry.
- Applying shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.
- Erecting scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Welding metal parts to steel structural members.
The successful candidate will have either a fifth year college program certificate, two to four years of related carpentry experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license is required.
Pay: $31.30 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
