The Chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual, emotional, and counseling support to meet the needs of our residents, families, and staff in ways which are consistent with Kendal at Hanover’s values and practices. The position is also responsible for the implementation, coordination and delivery of all activities related to the spiritual services program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct spiritual support and/or counsel to residents and family in keeping with their personal belief system.
- Work with staff, clergy, and community groups to enhance sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of resident/family experiencing terminal illness and loss.
- Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings by exploring and assessing the potential needs of residents and family members and reporting on services as indicated.
- Plans and implements educational programs for staff, residents, and families based on assessment of need for cumulative loss, grief, and related topics.
Education and/or Experience Requirements
- Certification (preferably Bachelor's degree) in Philosophy, Religion, Pastoral Care, or other related field. Minimum of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (4 units preferred).
- Certification as a Palliative Care Doula and/or hospice experience.
- Experience in working with residents/families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.
- Working knowledge of local, national, and world religions.
- Valid Driver's license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation required.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20-40 per week. This position is available for either part-time or full-time status.
