Cooler Product Handler
Florexpo/Kendal Floral, the largest importer of fresh-cut floral products in the United States, is looking for an experienced Cooler Product Handler for in Carlsbad, CA.
SUMMARY: Ensure flowers are ready for production and store appropriately in cooler to ensure proper rotation. Transport flowers from the cooler to production area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Remove the flowers from the boxes or buckets following the procedures established to avoid damage to the flower.
- Remove the flowers’ sleeves following the procedures established to avoid damage to the flower.
- Remove foliage using stripping machine.
- Cut the stems to a proper length to cover the requirement of the flower for production and ensure hydration
- Place the flowers in buckets/boxes and store them in an organized way to keep the quality
- Notify the Pre-process leader about any quality-related issues.
- Count and report the flowers that are thrown away in the process.
- Keep the work area clean and organized
- Follow established safety procedures making appropriate use of work tools
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Ability to work on weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift, carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work effectively and relate well with others
- Ability to work in refrigerated work environment (35 Degrees)
- Ability to wear face mask entire shift
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum six months experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- High School or GED preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to converse in Spanish.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
