Job Summary:
The truck driver is responsible for driving tractor trailers and/ or straight trucks on local routes to deliver floral products to customers’ locations. All routes are expected to be completed safely in accordance with all Company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
- Perform all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Immediately report any and all safety hazards including repairs required.
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Ensure all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch.
- Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times.
- Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures.
- Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines. Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas. Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times.
- Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Minimum of six months commercial driving experience (any industry) OR three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required.
- Pass pre-employment drug test.
- Pass road test.
- Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
- Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80 lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required.
- Able to work around major floral holidays.
- Ability to work any day of the week including weekends.
