About the Role
The Health Services Administrator provides strategic oversight for Kendal at Ithaca’s full continuum of health services, including Skilled Nursing, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Resident Clinic. This person must be a licensed NYS Nursing Home Administrator or eligible for reciprocity. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Administrator guides operational excellence, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment for residents and staff alike. This position also serves as our Corporate Compliance Officer and represents Kendal in community and industry partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage health services departments including nursing, social work, rehabilitation, therapeutic recreation, and home care.
- Ensure compliance with all NYS DOH, CMS, and internal standards.
- Promote person-directed care and uphold Kendal’s core values.
- Supervise departmental leaders and foster professional growth among staff.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that improve services and enhance wellness.
- Serve as staff liaison to the Board’s Health Services Committee and Chair of internal quality committees.
- Represent Kendal at Ithaca in local and system-wide professional groups.
- Oversee compliance programs including HIPAA, audits, and policy implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or related field (required)
- Active NYS Nursing Home Administrator License & Adult Home Administrator eligibility (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership in healthcare or long-term care settings
- Strong knowledge of long-term care systems, regulatory frameworks, and best practices
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and strategic planning skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn health system software
