The Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Landscape Services Coordinator to oversee the maintenance and enhancement of sustainable, biodiverse, and aesthetically pleasing landscapes within our retirement community. This role combines strategic landscape management with hands-on plant care, resident engagement, and sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate will prioritize eco-friendly practices, biodiversity, drought- and fire-resistant landscaping, while fostering a vibrant and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainable Landscape Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive landscape plans that integrate sustainability, native plantings, drought-tolerant plants, and fire-resistant landscaping practices.
- Oversee all aspects of landscape maintenance, including planting, pruning, irrigation management, pest control, and seasonal transitions.
- Promote biodiversity and reduce water usage while ensuring cohesive integration of plants across the campus.
- Monitor the irrigation system to ensure efficiency, prevent water wastage, and maintain landscape health.
Indoor and Outdoor Plant Care:
- Oversee the care and maintenance of all indoor and outdoor plant life, ensuring plants are healthy, pest-free, and aesthetically maintained.
- Develop and manage a plant care schedule, including watering, pruning, repotting, and seasonal updates.
- Identify plant species across the community and maintain a database of care requirements.
Resident Engagement and Education:
- Schedule and facilitate regular resident meetings, workshops, and educational sessions focused on sustainable gardening, and plant care
- Foster a sense of ownership and community involvement by encouraging resident participation in gardening activities and providing opportunities for hands-on learning.
- Collaborate with resident advisory groups to address landscaping needs and preferences.
Vendor and Contract Management:
- Coordinate with external vendors for landscape maintenance, plant care services, and related environmental projects.
- Oversee contracts to ensure quality service delivery, monitor vendor performance, and evaluate opportunities for improvements.
- Monitor plant care and landscaping budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or sustainability.
Collaboration and Facilities Alignment:
- Work closely with the Director of Finance, Director of Facilities, Garden Manager and other team members to align landscaping projects with overall community aesthetics, safety standards, and operational goals.
- Assist in the design and implementation of outdoor garden spaces, seasonal plantings, and themed landscaping for special events or holidays.
Environmental Stewardship and Safety:
- Promote and implement sustainable horticultural practices, including water conservation, organic fertilizers, and eco-friendly solutions to reduce environmental impact.
- Monitor and evaluate landscape and plant health, making proactive adjustments to improve resilience against drought, fire risks, and environmental challenges.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and fire prevention measures, particularly for residents with allergies or sensitivities.
Inventory and Budget Management:
- Maintain an inventory of plants, tools, supplies, and equipment required for plant care and landscaping.
- Coordinate the ordering and delivery of supplies to ensure materials are readily available.
- Monitor budget to align with financial goals while prioritizing sustainability and quality outcomes.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in landscape management, horticulture, or plant care, with demonstrated knowledge of sustainable practices.
- Experience working in a senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or community environment is a plus.
- Proven experience in managing vendor relationships, contracts, and project budgets.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of native plants, plant species identification, xeriscaping, pest management, and fire-resistant landscaping techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate, engage, and collaborate with residents, staff, and vendors.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel) for scheduling, reporting, and budgeting.
- Detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for creating sustainable and beautiful landscapes.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 90% of workday.
- Ability to work in various types of indoor/outdoor environments for long periods of time, i.e. hot, cold, humid conditions, etc.
- Ability to reach, stoop and bend.
- Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits:
Enso Village is committed to equal pay and transparency. The hourly pay for this position ranges from $28.00 - $34.00 per hour. Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and business considerations.
