ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following :

Oversee work assignments, providing direction to the shift staff to ensure the achievement of production objectives at the lowest cost consistent with company quality requirements.

Facilitate cooperation between employees. Resolve basic employee issues. Must report all employee issues to the Production Manager or the appropriate management personnel.

Ensure the timely completion of production orders on the assigned shift.

Recommend and assist in the implementation of improvement in methods and processes.

Assist in the evaluation and determination of materials and suppliers.

Provide production equipment expertise to employees. Operate and assist others in the operation of production equipment on a regular basis. Perform minor equipment maintenance when necessary.

Communicate safety, work rules, and company housekeeping standards to employees. Ensure that employees comply with all quality, safety, housekeeping, and production requirement daily.

Complete all required documentation, records, and reports. Start up and shut down the plant as required.

Must carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; assisting in employee performance appraisals, motivating the workforce and leading by example.

Support CI / R&D initiatives.

Identify opportunities for Kaizen / problem solving events and participate. Conduct / lead mini events as needed.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :

Requires education generally equivalent to four years of high school and five years progressively responsible experience in the flexographic industry. Experience in a shift leadership is desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, blueprints, procedures, and customer specifications. Ability to write basic reports and correspondences. Ability to effectively provide training and present information. Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Requires knowledge of company products and procedures. Requires a working knowledge of all production equipment, maintenance, and safety procedures. Requires the ability to operate a forklift.
