Job Description
As an Account Executive, you will play a critical role in driving sales and fostering long-term relationships with general contractors and other key stakeholders in the commercial construction industry. You will be responsible for professionally assessing potential construction projects, working on requests for proposals (RFPs), engaging in warm leads with targeted office visits, and working with client contractors/owners to ensure our solutions meet and exceed their expectations, from bid to contract award.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new business relationships: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through a combination of warm leads and targeted office visits.
- Manage Requests for Proposals: Review bid invitations to determine potential construction projects where Kendell could reasonably provide solutions. Selects projects to bid based on knowledge of our industry, client/contractor/owner needs, and Kendell’s historical ability to deliver a competitive bid. Attend walk-throughs to ensure understanding of the job and its technical complexities.
- Become an expert in our product: Develop a deep understanding of our product offerings, including doors, frames, hardware, and access control systems. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements.
- Project Estimation: Prepare project estimates and/or partner with estimator (when applicable) to gain information and connections for negotiated project work. Provide information on solutions, share knowledge/technical expertise, and prepare bid for negotiated projects. Develop and maintain positive, long-term working relationships with clients and contractors.
- Collaborate across departments: Work collaboratively with the project management, operations and engineering teams to provide tailored solutions that meet client specifications and requirements.
- Maintain Customer Relationships: Provide exceptional post-sale support, addressing any issues or concerns that arise during or after project completion. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Keep meticulous records: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and project progress. Prepare regular reports for management review.
- Manage post-award process: Ensure contract is received in house after notification of award and compare received contract to estimate and resolve any errors or discrepancies with contractor/owner prior to submittal preparation.
- Be a continuous learner: Maintain and improve professional and technical knowledge by attending industry-related or manufacturer, vendor, and distributor supported educational presentations/training sessions/workshops.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred, but comparable work experience will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of prior sales and estimating experience in the construction/building materials.
- Minimum of 3 years in the Doors, Frames and Hardware industry.
- Experience working in Commercial and Residential Construction preferred.
- Be comfortable with databases, spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, and Internet.
- The ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people, dealing effectively with difficult customers and situations.
- Be comfortable working independently but enjoy collaborating. Work well under deadline pressure and rapidly changing priorities.

Hours: Standard business hours are 8am-5pm
