JOB PURPOSE:
Handles new cases from Police Departments by entering them into the computer. Responsible for maintaining the records until the case is completed. Types complaints, motions and correspondence as needed.GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Attorneys by entering new cases into case management system, enter and review warrant requests and summonses from police departments and keep information updated.
- Follows up on the cases by making any needed corrections in case management system from reports received by CHRI, copy lists and return to CHRI. Generating a complete file on subject or updating current records.
- Assures proper handling of correspondence from Attorneys or Defendants by making copies of any offer, complaint and/or police narrative for defendants.
- Assists Victim Witness Advocates and Domestic Violence Investigators by making copies of domestic violence cases, entering information in the case management system, and keeping information updated.
- Assists Attorneys by making sure that they have all the necessary witnesses for court trials, documents for emergency court, and regularly scheduled court hearings.
- Assists Attorneys by typing criminal pleadings, amended complaints, information, warrants, search warrants, motions, subpoenas, and any other documentation as needed/required.
- Assists Attorneys by preparing trial and arraignment buckets for attorneys.
- Assists Attorneys by screening and handling telephone calls as needed, creating a file folder for each case including composing and preparing correspondence to court officials, attorneys, defendants and other officials.
- Assists the Attorneys by acting as liaison through maintaining and organizing the daily court box, including files, subpoenas, complaints, and witness lists.
- Assists Attorneys and Law Enforcement agencies by running criminal histories, driving records and license plates for out of state defendants and complete discovery including paper, CD’s, DVD’s, and any newly added discovery in a timely manner for the defense attorneys.
- Assists the department by acting as back up for the Juvenile Division.
- Assists the department by performing clerical duties including answering and screening telephone calls and taking messages, greeting the public courteously and professionally.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Supports the County’s safety and health policies by attending required safety training programs; reporting all accidents and suspected safety hazards to supervisor.
- Fulfills job function by participating as an active member of training; participating on county task forces.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS NEEDED FOR POSITION:**
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Proficient in the use of a computer.
- Excellent comprehension and communication skills
- Good work ethic
EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2)- Four (4) years of experience in an office setting

$18.35 - $19.91 per hour depending on prior experience.
