Position Title: Head Mens Basketball Coach
Supervisor: Dean of Student Affairs
Salary $7,000, ($3,000, fall semester, $3,000, spring semester, $1,000 for off season recruitment)
Job Type: Part-Time
Job Summary:
The head mens basketball coach is a part-time position responsible for all phases of the mens basketball program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to promoting, coaching, recruiting, evaluating current and prospective student-athletes, and performing public relations for the program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree required or equivalent combination of training and coaching experience
- Successful coaching and recruiting experience are required; at the collegiate level is preferred
- Current CPR/AED certification, or ability to attain
- Clean driving record required
Responsibilities:
- Schedule, organize, and oversee all aspects of the basketball program, including but not limited to practices, games and recruiting
- Evaluate student-athletes performance and design plans/strategies for continued improvement
- Provide individual and group instruction focused on technical improvement
- Develop a high-quality recruitment program supported with a written, well-defined plan including cultivation of prospective student-athletes and scheduling campus visits
- Develop and maintain relationships with coaches and Athletic Directors at local high schools, two and four-year institutions
- Initiate statistical reporting, press releases, and handle public relations
- Assist the Athletic Director to ensure student-athletes remain eligible and are progressing toward graduation
- Attend conferences, seminars, and meetings as permitted for professional development
- Educate athletes regarding college travel policies.
- Remain flexible with the work schedule that may include, days, evenings, and weekends
