What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergent Bilingual Paraprofessional position at Kennedale ISD (Region 11)?
Primary Purpose:
Work under the direction of the Director of Instructional Services in achieving the educational goals and objectives of
emergent bilingual students through individual/small group instruction.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
Have met formal academic assessment, associate’s degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Experience working with students learning a second language
Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience:
Some experience working with students
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
1. Use instructional strategies and techniques to provide language acquisition assistance and support to individuals and small
groups in and/or out of the classroom.
2. Record and maintain documentation of activities, strategies, and supports provided to students.
3. Assist with administration of assessments related to language identification and progress monitoring.
4. Provide translation and interpretation services.
5. Assist with communication between school and families.
Student Management
6. Notify classroom teacher or campus leadership of any problem or special information about an individual student.
7. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Other
8. Participate in professional development opportunities to improve job performance.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
10. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping

Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
