Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Construction Inspector to work on major water-related infrastructure projects in the Portland area. Travel will be required for this position. The Construction Inspector will provide construction oversight on small to large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure public works projects, including water, wastewater, treatment, pipeline, pump stations, and reservoirs.
Key Responsibilities:
Hourly pay rate for this position is anticipated to be $50.00 per hour, and may vary based on education, experience, qualifications, skills, licensure/certifications, seniority, and geographic location. Many of KJ’s California public works projects are prevailing wage projects; therefore, KJ matches the prevailing wage requirements, which may be higher than the base pay rate.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily onsite oversight of the contractor and their construction activities under the supervision of the Construction Manager/Resident Engineer.
- Perform necessary inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with contract requirements and applicable permits.
- Provide daily written reports detailing activities, labor, and equipment.
- Track contractor schedule compliance.
- Prepare written communication between the owner and contractor.
- Coordinate meetings with contractors, clients, and staff.
- Provide quality control inspection of the contractor’s work.
- 3 years of experience with all facets of construction, including civil, mechanical, and electrical installations.
- Experience with sewer rehabilitation, municipal projects, water and wastewater pipelines, agricultural pump stations, and/or water or wastewater treatment plants, for both new construction and rehabilitation, is strongly preferred.
- Certifications for specialty inspections of steel, concrete, welding, coatings, and other aspects of infrastructure projects are a plus.
