Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Construction Inspector to work on major water-related infrastructure projects in the Portland area. Travel will be required for this position. The Construction Inspector will provide construction oversight on small to large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure public works projects, including water, wastewater, treatment, pipeline, pump stations, and reservoirs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily onsite oversight of the contractor and their construction activities under the supervision of the Construction Manager/Resident Engineer.
  • Perform necessary inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with contract requirements and applicable permits.
  • Provide daily written reports detailing activities, labor, and equipment.
  • Track contractor schedule compliance.
  • Prepare written communication between the owner and contractor.
  • Coordinate meetings with contractors, clients, and staff.
  • Provide quality control inspection of the contractor’s work.
Qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience with all facets of construction, including civil, mechanical, and electrical installations.
  • Experience with sewer rehabilitation, municipal projects, water and wastewater pipelines, agricultural pump stations, and/or water or wastewater treatment plants, for both new construction and rehabilitation, is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications for specialty inspections of steel, concrete, welding, coatings, and other aspects of infrastructure projects are a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly pay rate for this position is anticipated to be $50.00 per hour, and may vary based on education, experience, qualifications, skills, licensure/certifications, seniority, and geographic location. Many of KJ’s California public works projects are prevailing wage projects; therefore, KJ matches the prevailing wage requirements, which may be higher than the base pay rate.
