QUALIFICATIONS |
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Professional Certification:
- DESE licensure as a teacher preferred
- Specialized Knowledge:
- Understanding of adolescent development
- Understanding of best instructional practices
- Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student engagement and belonging
- Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated interest and experience working with students and technology
- Experience working with students with disabilities/special abilities preferred
- Experience working with students who are English language learners preferred
- Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate
- Skills
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
- Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues

Works with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers that limit student, family, and staff members’ equitable access to opportunity.
- Responsible for updating and enhancing the online curriculum in order to correlate with that of Kennedy Middle School.
- Working with the staff in the TLC program at Kennedy to monitor student progress.
- Create and alter individual student accounts based on student’s needs, including students with IEP’s, in order to comply with accommodations
- Ensure that each student is progressing within the curriculum by producing weekly/biweekly detailed reports on student’s progress
- Be prepared to assist students with individual questions to help clarify information that is being presented
- Be able to understand MCAS results in order to individualize MCAS curriculum based on student’s performance
- Responsible for working closely with the guidance staff
- Responsible for keeping accurate records and monitoring student grades
- Responsible for providing support to students who are accessing NovaNET at home due to hospitalizations
- Establishes an effective working relationship with classroom teachers, specialists, and administration
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully certified teachers.
- Makes parents and guidance counselors aware of student progress
- Identifies and addresses bias and its impact on rigor and opportunity for students
- Any other duties assigned
