What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Maintenance position at Kennesaw Transportation?
JOB DESPCRIPTION: To oversee and maintain the Maintenance Department, Company Equipment, 24/7 Breakdown, and Building Maintenance, while maintaining it at the level of safety, compliance, quality and efficiency.
· To oversee all of the maintenance departments employees duties on a day to day basis
o Coach and mentor technicians and other members of the maintenance staff, assist techs on repair issues that may arise
o Oversee Breakdown staff and assist with calls/issues as needed.
o Certify all mechanics follow DOT Rules and Regulations, OSHA standards, as well as company policies
o Ensuring a clean and safe working environment that meets all OSHA standards and company policies.
· Create and maintain the educational program for the maintenance department
o ”The Right to Know” safety program
o The MSDA book (Material Safety Data Sheet)
o Develop and enforces procedures and policies to help support fleet services.
· To work directly with the maintenance manager and shop foreman
o Develop schedules and procedures for the department
o Prioritize and assign work to meet operational needs
o Ensure quality, compliance and safety of company equipment and facility maintenance.
· Oversee the parts purchasing program to guarantee quality products are purchased in the proper amounts at the best prices
o Develop national account programs with major vendors
o Organize and monitor parts, inventory, and labor cost
o Maintain compliance and preventive maintenance for all company vehicles
o Review for accuracy all maintenance expenses prior to sending to A/P, and close purchase orders.
o Review and Close all R/O’s within Dossier making sure all PM’s, parts, and information are current and recorded for accuracy.
o Prepare and present departmental budget to CEO, COO, and VP of Operations.
o Work with outside vendors on parts, services, and warranties as needed.
o Other duties and tasks as required by upper management and as needed
· To Collaborate with CEO, COO, and VP of Operations on equipment
o Establishing a schedule for recommended replacement of fleet vehicles
o Work with vendors on pricing, availability, and company specs for equipment.
o Communicate recalls, and technical service bulletins.
o Draft and present reports to members of management(Daily, Weekly, and Monthly)
o Identity opportunities for continues improvements and take appropriate action, recommend process change, and initiate improvements.
o Collaborate with other members of the team on efficiencies, departmental developments, and enforce procedures.
o Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with other team members and vendors.
o Identify opportunities for improvements and take appropriate actions with initiating steps for improvement.

· Preferred candidates will have to have 3 years in fleet vehicle maintenance experience, overseeing technicians, and strong operational metrics.
· Ability and desire to work in a positive, fast paced environment.
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· Associates or Tech School degree preferred, but not required.
· Strong customer service and organizational skills
· Valid Driver’s License, CDL preferred, but not required.
· Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Web based applications preferred.
Salary : $95,000 - $100,000
