Kenneth Poe Funeral Service is seeking a compassionate, professional, and dedicated Funeral Director to join our team. As a Funeral Director, you will play a key role in providing exceptional care to families during their most challenging times. You will be responsible for overseeing the arrangement and coordination of funeral services, offering guidance to families, and ensuring that each service is carried out with dignity, respect, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Funeral Arrangements:
Meet with families to plan and coordinate funeral or memorial services, offering guidance on choices such as burial, cremation, caskets, urns, and service options.
Assist families in personalizing services to reflect the life of the deceased and their cultural or religious preferences.
- Licensing & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding funeral services.
Prepare and file necessary paperwork, such as death certificates, permits, and other required documents.
Coordinate with cemeteries, crematories, and other service providers to ensure timely and respectful execution of arrangements.
- Customer Service & Family Support:
Provide empathetic support and guidance to grieving families, offering counsel and assistance in navigating the funeral planning process.
Address any family concerns or requests promptly and professionally.
Ensure families are informed and comfortable throughout the entire funeral process.
- Aftercare Services:
Provide families with information about grief counseling and post-service support.
Offer resources for long-term grief recovery and help families understand the next steps after the funeral.
- All of the Above:
Joining a small team means having the ability and willingness to do all the tasks associated with working in the funeral business, including daytime removals, being on call during nights and weekends, assisting in preparation of human remains, and being in a supporting role for services planned by other directors.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
An associates or bachelor’s degree satisfactory to obtain licensing from the state of North Carolina.
A valid Funeral Director license in the state of North Carolina or the ability to reciprocate license from another state.
- Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a licensed funeral director, with a strong understanding of funeral service procedures and state regulations.
Experience working in a family-owned, customer-service-driven environment is a plus.
- Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with grieving families in a compassionate and supportive manner.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of funeral service products and services, including burial, cremation, and memorialization options.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as funeral services may require.
- Additional Requirements:
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
Ability to lift and carry items such as caskets, urns, and other funeral-related materials.
Professional dress and appearance at all time.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods.
- Ability to lift and carry.
- Occasional bending, reaching, and kneeling required.
