What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Grounds Crew position at Kennett Consolidated School District?
This is an excellent summer job for students in high school and college.
Selected candidates will assist in the maintenance of all district grounds throughout the summer.
This position will work Monday - Thursday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. The position begins in June and runs through mid to late August (some flexibility with start/end date is permitted for college students' school schedule).
Candidates must be at least 16 years of age, have a valid Driver's License, and be able to pass a physical examination required by the district.

POSITION TITLE: Summer Grounds/Maintenance Crew Member
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Maintain physical competence to turn, twist and bend as required to operate equipment.
- Properly licensed to operate a vehicle.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds repeatedly.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be team oriented.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operate all turf and lawn equipment in a safe and appropriate manner as well as make proper adjustments when needed.
Trim shrubs and trees in a timely manner to promote growth and improve appearance.
Care for seed, sod, plants, shrubs and trees to ensure new growth.
Keep grounds free of trash, empty barrels, and remove items from grounds that can cause damage to district property.
- Maintain the school grounds and athletic fields and turf equipment in a condition of operating excellence.
- Assist other maintenance team members as needed and directed.
- Running push mowers and using weedwackers to maintain appearance of district grounds.
- Mulching in designated areas of campus.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Attend meetings as requested by supervisors or district administration.
Be respectful and courteous to parents, students and staff.
Assist other areas when needed.
Takes appropriate precautions in extreme weather conditions to ensure personal safety such as wearing appropriate clothing and taking appropriate water breaks.
Dress and grooming should be appropriate. Wear proper uniform and name badge.
Read and respond to email in a timely manner.
Complete all required training.
Perform other duties as assigned.
