JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Kennett School District seeks applicants for a Vocational Placement Coordinator (Career and Technical Center Counselor) for the 2025-2026 school year. As part of our innovative 4-day school week schedule, you will have the opportunity to engage students in meaningful learning experiences while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The Vocational Placement Coordinator helps students explore career pathways, make informed decisions about their futures, and develop skills necessary for success in the workplace. This role involves providing career counseling, coordinating job readiness programs, facilitating internships/apprenticeships, and maintaining partnerships with employers, technical schools, and postsecondary institutions.

Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, Career Development, or a related field.
- Licensure/Certification: State certification/licensure in School Counseling or Career Development (as required by the state).
- Experience: Previous experience in career counseling, workforce development, or education preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build partnerships with community stakeholders and industry professionals.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Have a working knowledge and understanding of the needs/outcomes of each KCTC program. Be able to communicate to the area school counselors the knowledge and skill requirements for each.
- Work closely with school counselors to provide career guidance for current students, as well as potential students.
- Recruit students through activities such as presentations to students at KHS and 5 sending schools, participation in college/career fairs, and hosting school and individual student visits.
- Work closely with school counselors to monitor student grades and attendance and intervene as necessary with all parties involved.
- Coordinates enrollment of students to include but not limited to creating courses, scheduling, and creating a master template. In addition, communicate with sending schools, schedules, entrance applications, and course selections.
- Advise students regarding schedules, career goals, dual enrollment, scholarships, embedded credit, credit waiver, certifications, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificates, On-Job-Training, articulation agreements, teacher concerns, student issues, and mental health. (Counseling will vary based on applicants certification)
- Coordinate the credit recovery and employability skills programs and monitor progress so students are on track.
- Coordinate with sending schools to make sure IEP/504 accommodations are met for students.
- Collaborate and routinely visit sending school administration, sending school counselors, and KCTC classrooms.
- Organize all tours, including 8th Grade and 10th Grade with KHS, KMS, area schools, and private schools, within our sending school area.
- Attend advisory committee meetings.
- Attend meetings with sending school counselors and administration.
- Proctor for KCTC Industry Recognized Credential (IRC), Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) testing.
- Work closely with post-secondary schools to create and maintain articulation agreements
- Participate in professional development activities in order to remain current on trends in the fields of career services and education.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist students in identifying career interests, goals, and educational pathways through assessments, counseling sessions, and workshops.
- Guide students in developing career readiness skills such as resume writing, interviewing, time management, and job searching.
- Coordinate with local businesses, trade schools, colleges, and apprenticeship programs to provide students with opportunities for internships, job shadows, and dual enrollment.
- Stay updated on labor market trends and share current employment opportunities with students.
- Organize and host career fairs, college visits, and guest speaker events.
- Support students with career-related transitions, including postsecondary planning, employment, military service, or vocational training.
- Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and parents to create personalized career development plans.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress in compliance with school and district policies.
