POSITION INFORMATION:
The assistant principal provides leadership for the operation of the school to ensure accomplishment of District instructional goals and priorities. The Assistant Principal assists with financial and facilities management and supports effective staff performance.
The assistant principal reports to the principal. Activities of the position will take place within a collaborative atmosphere involving building staff and community representatives. The assistant principal will work in a team relationship with the principal and staff.
Qualifications Requirements:
1. Valid Washington State Principal Certificate
2. Master’s degree in education administration or related field
3. Successful recent high school administrative or leadership experience
4. Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communication, listening skills, and demonstrated ability to speak effectively in various public settings
5. Demonstrated leadership role with creating a positive school environment.
6. A vision and plan for high school education
7. Demonstrated leadership as a collaborator and facilitator to develop effective school programs
8. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, agreements and practices which affect school district operations including management of contracts
9. Demonstrated experience working with teaming, curriculum committees, the master scheduling process, special programs and student activities
10. Proven skills in all budgetary matters and personnel management
11. Knowledge of computers and skilled in their use
12. Ability to supervise evening and Saturday high school events and activites
12. Knowledge and/or experience in dealing with effective intervention strategies for conflict resolution and drug and alcohol problems, etc.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the attributes of high achieving schools and an ability to provide leadership toward those goals.
2. Assist with supervision of all school staff, students and building programs
3. Demonstrated knowledge of school data systems for all phases of student scheduling, reporting and data collection
4. Demonstrate knowledge or experience in the integration of the curriculum and performance based education
5. Analyze and apply contemporary research and findings from current practice to the improvement of our school's curriculum and instructional program
6. Demonstrate leadership skills that foster teamwork and collaboration
- Lead efforts to personalize the educational experience for individual students
- Lead interventions supporting or improving student academic achievement, attendance, and behavior
- Be creative, forward looking and insightful in dealing with group as well as individual needs
- Apply knowledge of best instructional practices to effectively evaluate the teaching staff
- Coordinate and supervise academic assessments (SBA, STAR, WACAS, PSAT, SAT, etc.)
- Supervise and support International Baccalaureate program and the IB Coordinator
- Work closely with parents and parent teacher organization in implementing practices that reflect a customer driven organization
- Be an independent problem solver who shows initiative, creativity and resourcefulness while placing high value on teamwork

Contract and Salary Range
Contract: 209 work days – Begins 07/01/2025
Salary Range: ($144,467 - $157,489 2024-2025 salary schedule)

**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
