This is an Off-Schedule, non-bargaining position.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The School Safety Officer is responsible for helping to ensure a safe and secure school environment for students, staff, and visitors at the assigned school campus. The School Safety Officer is highly visible in the parking lots, crosswalks, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and school grounds. Daily functions include patrolling of the school campus, parking lots, school facilities, and grounds and interacting positively with students, staff, families, and visitors. The School Safety Officer monitors campus security systems, aides in school safety drills, and provides the first response to intrusions or threats to school safety, working in conjunction with Kennewick Police Department and school / district administrators.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must currently or in the past have been a Commissioned Peace Officer accredited through a state certified training program; must have served as a Police Officer for a municipal, county or state law enforcement agency in the United States.
- Successful completion of training or certification programs related to position. Must attend in-service training courses or other meetings as required, as well as attend any training as directed by management.
- Must present transcripts of the highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire, if applicable.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must possess current first aid card / CPR card or willingness to acquire one.
- Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.
- Positive references from previous employers.
- Must commit to work the entire school year.
