POSITION SUMMARY
The Family Intervention Project Worker provides linkage and follow up for children and families experiencing intimate partner violence. The position also assesses potential for referral to community resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Family Intervention Project Worker
a. Processes referrals regarding family violence
b. Provides follow-up contact to victims and children including safety planning, information and referral, crisis counseling, resources and referrals
c. Assists family members in completing crime victim compensation applications
d. Maintains records on FIP cases
e. Coordinates with Project Partners
f. Attends morning debriefings
g. Utilize child safety training to assess for safety in the home
h. Provide resource information to children and families, including Prevention Services Network Families First and other community-based resources
i. Apply principles of child welfare and HFS 34 in interactions with children and families
j. Provide immediate dictation of crisis contacts and any additional documentation
k. Follows schedule of hours established by supervisor
2. OVW Communication
a. Provides community outreach including presentations about FIP services, distribution of program materials and staffing of victim supporting booths at community events
b. Attends multi-disciplinary meetings
3. Co-facilitate education/support groups for survivors
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field is required.
1. Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, in the English language.
2. Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with good driving record.
3. Must carry own auto insurance with at least 100,000/300,000/100,000 coverage.
4. Ability to maintain records and document case notes daily.
5. Ability to give and accept feedback as a part of a team.
6. Ability to traverse within the workspace and community frequently.
7. Be willing to learn and work with the treatment philosophies.
8. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
