What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver / Cover Driver position at Kenowa Hills Public Schools?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Required Driver certifications in accordance with Michigan law. Must have or be able to obtain a commercial driver’s license with a “P” and “S” endorsement.
- Must have an acceptable driving record and be able to pass the DOT physical, including drug test.
- Continuing education classes must be completed as required to maintain licensing certification
- Must pass the State of Michigan Skill Test and State written test.
- CPR and first aid certification preferred.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems in various situations.
- Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers, parents, and students.
- Ability to read and understand maps.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education Policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives a school bus safely and professionally
- Performs and properly completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Complies with all traffic ordinances and regulation
- Supervises students while transporting them
- Complies with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation
- Complies with the rules and regulations of the Kenowa Hills Driver’s Handbook
- Participates in on-site training
- Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school buses.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
