Buyer II Position
Our client located in North Carolina is currently seeking a qualified individual for the Buyer II position. This role involves engaging in tactical and strategic purchasing activities to support cost, sourcing, delivery, and supplier management functions within the Purchasing Department. The individual will be responsible for initiating and evaluating RFQ/RFPs, placing purchase orders based on cost, quality, and delivery requirements, and coordinating meetings with suppliers and customers to ensure project goals are met. The primary focus is on supporting on-time delivery for manufacturing, engine assembly, maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO), and facility needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with suppliers to support on-time delivery for manufacturing, engine assembly, MRO, and facility needs. Problem-solving and decision-making skills are crucial for hardware disposition and expediting to achieve on-time delivery.
- Manage supplier RFQ and negotiation processes, awarding business based on the best possible quality, cost, and delivery terms.
- Develop long-term supplier strategies aligned with quality, cost, and delivery objectives. Strategically align the correct parts with the correct supplier to maximize volume with approved suppliers and enhance long-term relationships.
- Facilitate design change investigations, fostering communication between design and potential suppliers on new or revised designs to reduce costs and improve manufacturability and product reliability.
- Support projects by meeting deliverables, and collaborating with Engineering and Suppliers to achieve development goals on time. Collaborate with internal and external customers to facilitate process changes and other project-related items.
- Provide support to team members to ensure processes are understood and followed.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience in procurement or supply chain-related fields.
- CPM or CPSM certification is desired.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of procurement-related experience.
Other Requirements:
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proven track record in cost reduction and development of strategic sourcing strategies.
- Working knowledge of ERP (IFS) systems and ability to work with suppliers to track and monitor part shipment and inventory management of components.
- Technical understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings, preferably in Aerospace.
- Ability to maximize company profitability through cost reduction.
- Ensure supplier on-time delivery with no impact on manufacturing, assembly, or MRO activities.
- Supplier management, including problem resolution, contract review, and negotiation of terms and conditions.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to develop strategic plans, coordinate projects, and communicate changes and progress (RFP/RFQ, NPI, Change Point Control).
