Summary
This position supports all Kent Companies’ operating departments, the Director of Human Resources, and the Talent Acquisition Team. Supports operating units by implementing human resource programs and solving performance problems. As needed, position assists in all department activities, including collaborating with third-party vendors and solicitors. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for driving the implementation, administration, training, tracking, and communication of all human resources policies and programs, including performance management, talent management, employee relations, and HR-related compliance. This position will work closely with all levels and various functions of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations, completing personnel transactions.
  • Practice and guide managers in considering employment law and regulations. Ensure investigations are conducted in a professional manner, compliant with all relevant local, state, and federal laws, and that all parties involved are treated with dignity and respect.
  • The HR Generalist will participate in and assist with coaching and counseling employees and management. This may include, but is not limited to, performance discussions, career guidance, and other HR-related areas.
  • The HR Generalist will be responsible for handling highly confidential case assignments and projects related to employee relations issues, including investigations, facilitating disciplinary meetings, and providing consultative advice.
  • Lead employees through effective hiring, orientations, training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Assists the director of human resources and the office director in all human resources department administrative tasks.
  • Assists in processing personnel transactions, including separations, promotions, leaves, transfers, reclassifications, and recruitment.
  • Assists in ensuring that employee records and HRIS are updated as necessary.
  • Processes and maintains documentation relating to labor/employment relations and recruitment; assists, as needed, with all department documentation and correspondence.
  • Establishes and maintains records and files pertaining to employee/labor relations and recruitment.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and a minimum of 5 years' experience as an administrative assistant, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; some college preferred. 1-2 years in customer service required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred education and experience
Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Work Environment/Physical Demand
This position works in an office environment requiring extended periods of sitting.

Position type, travel, and expected hours of work
This is a full-time office position. Occasional day and overnight travel is required as needed. Typical hours will range from 45 to 50 per week and are subject to change. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during non-typical workdays and hours is also necessary.
