Summary
The Mechanic maintains and repairs all company construction equipment including excavators, skid-steers, gypcrete pumps, and generators. This role requires a CDL A to transport equipment and materials. When maintenance and delivery needs are satisfied, this role functions as an integral crew member to support gypcrete operations on active job sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on company vehicles and/or equipment.
- Diagnose problems and determine whether to repair them in-house or send them out.
- Perform general mechanical repair and maintenance to keep the fleet in service.
- Manages upkeep and organization of shop, tools, equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Record and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing vehicles, equipment, and rentals.
- Perform DOT annual inspections on trucks and trailers.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications
- High School Diploma (GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
- Mechanics Certificate or deemed equivalent experience.
- CDL A (airbrakes preferred).
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation to the workplace/job location(s).
- Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving.
- 2 years of experience working on diesel equipment (construction equipment preferred).
- Working knowledge of hydraulics standard systems, motors, valves, and pumps.
- Working knowledge of diesel and gas engines to perform service at proper intervals.
- 3-5 years of experience in a construction-related position.
- Familiar with commonly used equipment, tools, and materials.
- Prior experience working in a high-performance, team-orientated environment.
- Ability to lift 80 lbs.
- Ability to Pass DOT physical and able to maintain medical card.
- Ability to work non-typical days and hours based on construction schedules, often beyond 40 hours per week.
- Ability to pass drug screening.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred education and experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
Work Environment/Physical Demand
This position works in a typical construction site environment. This position requires long periods of standing and should be able to lift 80 pounds.
Position type and expected hours of work.
This is a full-time shop/field position. Typical hours will range from 45 to 50 per week and are subject to change. This role requires working nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.
Travel
This position requires travel to the companys shop and will commute to job sites as needed.
