This is not a State of Delaware merit position. It is a one-year contractual position with the
opportunity to work long term.
The New Castle Conservation District (NCCD), a governmental subdivision of the State of Delaware, is
seeking applicants for the contractual services position of Marine and Land Based Heavy Equipment
Operator with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC),
Division of Parks and Recreation.
JOB SUMMARY
The selected candidate will be responsible for moving privately owned boats in and out of the water and
around the boat yard at the Indian River Marina, in support of the dry-stack storage operation and general
marina operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions and are not intended
to be an exhaustive list of all job duties.
- Performs maintenance and repairs in a variety of labor/trade fields such as plumbing, carpentry,
scale projects.
- Operates marine, land-based and vessel moving equipment, which may include boat hauling and
and other aspects of the marina operations.
- Maintains and repairs a variety of equipment/vehicles for marine operations and park-related
ensure the safe movement of all types of marine vessels.
- Provides information to the public as requested or responds to inquiries regarding agency
- Monitor vessels in times of inclement weather.
- Maintains records of launches and updates records inventory and activity logs.
- Ensures the safe usage of state owned, managed, and/or maintained grounds and facilities by the
public.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Three years' experience, preferred in operating and maintaining motor vehicles, Marine 50-ton
Travel Lift, Marine 24,000lb Forklift, use of arial Manlift, 10,000 lb forklift, hydraulic jackstands,
threaded stationary stands, and snow removal equipment.
2. Six months’ experience in performing a variety of groundskeeping, mechanical, and building
maintenance trades work.
3. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training
provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR
supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of
others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and
clerical employees.
4. Possession of a valid Driver's License is required (not suspended, revoked, cancelled, or
disqualified from driving).
5. Possession of a valid Delaware CDL Class A or B Driver's License is preferred (not suspended,
revoked, cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

2. Direct Deposit of paychecks is required of all new employees.
