POSITION SUMMARY :
Are you a problem-solver with a passion for mechanical systems? KENT® Pet Group, a member of the KENT Corporation family of companies is seeking an Mechanical Specialist to join their growing team! The KPG Mechanical Specialist responds to all mechanical needs in the plant to eliminate failure. They will partner with the operations group to ensure mechanical problems are isolated and repaired in a safe and expedient manner. Specialists respond to breakdown calls and work orders by troubleshooting and eliminating the problems, and perform regular preventative maintenance on all equipment types. This position reports to the KPG Engineering Lead.
This position is designed and intended to be performed in Muscatine, IA.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Be knowledgeable about the process equipment plant-wide and the proper maintenance requirements of that equipment
Maintain equipment by monitoring, problem solving, and mitigating down time or optimizing up-time.
Replace / repair motor, gearbox, bearings, etc on mechanical equipment throughout the plant
Complete routine maintenance tasks such as motor greasing, gearbox inspections, baghouse inspections, etc
Detailed documentation of all maintenance tasks through CMMS (Including task completed, parts used / checked out, time to complete job, etc)
Adhere to all Kent safety protocols in work performed by following plant policies, rules, and guidelines
Communicate observations to Maintenance and Production supervisors including root causes of failure and process improvements
Ensure proper housekeeping and general clean-up practices during and after work completion (All 5S protocols will be adhered to on the jobsite as well as the maintenance shop)
Will require working off shift and holidays as the business needs
Other tasks as assigned
EDUCATION :
High school diploma or equivalent qualification required
Accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program with 0-2 years of experience is preferred.
