Position Summary:
The Betterton Beach Park Supervisor position for Kent County Parks & Recreation requires experience in park and facility management, along with the ability to work independently while supervising park operations. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring the park and beach area are safe, clean, and well-maintained, and enforcing park policies and regulations. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with the public. The Supervisor will be responsible for grounds maintenance, facility upkeep, and security of the park and bathhouse. The position is seasonal, with work required on weekends, holidays, and evenings from May through September.
- Park & Beach Operations: Supervise the daily operations of Betterton Beach Park, including managing park staff and ensuring compliance with park regulations and policies.
- Grounds Maintenance: Perform regular grounds maintenance, including cleaning bathrooms, picking up litter and maintaining beach cleanliness.
- Facility Management: Ensure the bathhouse and park facilities are in good working order and secure at all times.
- Enforce Park Rules & Regulations: Monitor park activities and strictly enforce all park and beach policies and regulations to ensure safety and a positive visitor experience.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional service to park visitors and resolve any issues or concerns promptly.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies as needed and ensure park safety.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of park maintenance, incidents, and staff hours.
Position Requirements:
- At least 21 years of age.
- Prior experience in facility or park management.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and manage park operations.
- Ability to enforce policies and maintain a safe environment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills preferred.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings throughout the season (May - September).
- The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
- Must complete a yearly pre-employment medical form and attend orientation.
- Must provide proof of age (photo ID).
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks such as trash removal, bathroom cleaning, trash pickup, and sand removal.
