Medical Assistants in the Kent County Health Department Community Clinical Services Division are valued members of a multi-disciplinary team providing critical services to the community.
WIC and Immunization Program Medical Assistants perform routine clinical procedures and provide general clerical support by verifying eligibility for program services, scheduling appointments, client registration, collecting and recording anthropometrics, capillary and venous blood samples and data entry.
Work Schedule:
• Monday through Friday
• No weekends, nights or holidays.
• Will be required to work 10 am - 7pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.

High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and Certification as a Medical Assistant by AAMA or registered as a Medical Assistant by the AMT. State of Michigan Certification as a Medical Assistant required.
Working knowledge of routine clinical procedures and experience in venipuncture and specimen collection required. Computer literacy including Word, spreadsheets and database management required. Experience with electronic medical records. Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to be highly efficient while ensuring attention to detail is required.
Must interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers, and members of the general public from widely divergent cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to provide client service from a culturally aware and client driven perspective and deliver excellent customer service to all clients while following HIPAA guidelines is essential. Must be able to provide services to clients in a variety of County locations and possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and have access to regular transportation.
*Experience working with maternal, infant and child populations desired for applicants of the WIC and Immunization Program.
