Payroll Clerk (Account Clerk II)

Under general supervision, the individual will be part of a team responsible for the accurate and timely processing and auditing of the County's bi-weekly payroll in accordance with IRS and other federal, state or local regulatory guidelines; prepare and transmit related bank files; perform employee reimbursement review in accordance with County policies and bargaining agreements; assist with interim and annual tax compliance reporting; process employee payroll change requests; provide ad hoc reporting as needed; maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential. The successful candidate may assist with other departmental general accounting activities such as accounts payable or accounts receivable as needed and special projects as they arise.

This position is part of our HireReach process, please check your email for further instructions if you have not completed our Jofi (Job Fit) Assessment.High School Diploma plus post-secondary training in bookkeeping or accounting or equivalent; minimum of one year payroll processing, accounting or bookkeeping ideally with a large organization 1,000 employees; experience in processing payroll for multiple complex bargaining units; understanding of basic accounting principles; knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements is desirable but not required; understanding of internal controls; strong PC skills; proficient in Excel; strong communication skills; and strong customer service skills.
 
Associate's degree or certification in accounting or payroll is preferred.
