What are the responsibilities and job description for the Superintendent position at Kent Design Build, Inc.?
Description:
- Perform daily equipment inspection sheets on Kent owned and/or rental equipment.
- Ensure tools and equipment are picked up and secured at the end of each day.
- Coordinates and supervises all construction activities.
- Directs all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
- Maintains construction schedule, identifies, and solves problems.
- Order’s materials and schedules inspections as necessary throughout the process
- Understands the project plans and specifications.
- Maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
- Prepares, schedules, and supervises completion of a final punch list.
- Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards
- immediately.
- Ensures all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
- Maintains an organized job site, including the construction office.
- Ensure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all subcontractors and/or Kent Labor. Work continually to strive for Zero injuries on ALL projects.
- Maintain, complete, and turn in weekly Toolbox “talks”.
- Observe and correct all safety hazards at the jobsite and report all safety incidents to Superintendent, G.S., Safety Director, and Project Manager.
- Understand and ability to enforce all safety policies and procedures for commercial construction practices as stipulated in KDB Safety Manual.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of construction practices and processes in specific trades (Divisions).
- Proficient in understanding building plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of all materials used in construction jobs and methods to apply in the construction process.
- Understanding of standards to be met by KDB and customer/owner regarding clean and organized jobsites.
- A minimum of 5 years of construction experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work 40 plus hours per week.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders to inspect work and give directions.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and bend to inspect work and give directions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time in hot and cold weather.
- Ability to drive a vehicle.
- Ability to carry light loads up to 50 lbs. such as plans & specs to assure project is being constructed in accordance with the plans.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing plans, schedules, estimates, etc.
- Ability to use hands to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to take measurements, lay out work and inspect work for compliance with plans and specifics.
