What You Need :
Ability to work successfully with students, staff, administrators and community members
Daily, In-person attendance and ability to be organized and work collaboratively with students, staff and families
Must be flexible
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a ZA or ZS endorsement
Special Education endorsement
Ability to relate well with students
Ability to collaborate with building staff and parents
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of identifying learning issues, and recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning.
Participates in and assists in developing Individual Educational Plans ("IEP") for students.
Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEP's and behavior management plans.
Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's.
abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with social work services.
Serves as ready resource to students and parents to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and behavioral management; serves as liaison between home and school.
Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of the district's curriculum and reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
Establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the district; continually evaluate and record various aspects of students' progress and report to parents as needed.
Provide a variety of planned learning experiences using a variety of media and methods in order to motivate students and best utilize available time for instruction..
Understand diversity of student needs and provide supplemental programming or instruction.
Provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful environment for students.
Regular, reliable and punctual attendance
Perform other reasonably related duties
