This role is responsible for aspects of general livestock and crop production related to feeding, animal health, record keeping, following trial protocol, pasture maintenance, crop production, building and equipment maintenance.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain buildings and equipment associated with the Research Farm.
- Assist with the maintenance and implementation of a herd health program with the assistance of the consulting veterinarian.
- Assist in all areas of crop production.
- Assist with the feeding and health care of all livestock.
- Maintain accurate records pertaining to livestock research as designated by the nutritionist.
- Assist in allotting and weighing of livestock.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate
- Education in Ag related classes
- Ag/livestock background
- Strong organizational abilities
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs from floor to working height as job requires
- Ability to work cross-functionally with other all departments
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- High level of accuracy and careful attention to detail
- Computer knowledge and basic skills in Microsoft office
- Experience operating machinery
