Summary
The Safety Operations Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, facilities, and operational processes within the safety department. This role focuses on analyzing safety data, identifying risks, and supporting the development of safety procedures and protocols. The Safety Operations Analyst will work closely with the Vice President of Safety and other team members to evaluate safety incidents, enhance preventative strategies, and contribute to a culture of safety excellence across the organization.
1. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, process, and analyze safety-related data from multiple sources, including incident reports, near-miss events, and safety inspections.
- Identify trends and patterns in safety data to inform strategic decisions and prevent potential hazards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on safety performance and key metrics for internal stakeholders.
2. Risk Assessment & Evaluation
- Assist in identifying and evaluating potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to minimize risk.
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations, standards, and company policies through data analysis and audits.
3. Incident Analysis & Investigation Support
- Collaborate with team members to assist with safety incident investigations and near- miss events.
- Use root cause analysis methods to determine the underlying causes of incidents and support the development of corrective actions.
- Track implementation of corrective actions and follow-up on their effectiveness.
4. Operational Safety Enhancement
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and improve operational safety protocols and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of safety training materials, job aids, and other resources that promote safe practices.
- Partner with the safety specialists to ensure adherence to safety protocols and identify opportunities for improvement.
5. Predictive Analytics & Proactive Safety Measures
- Leverage predictive analytics tools to forecast potential safety risks and proactively address areas of concern.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging safety technologies to support a forward- looking safety strategy.
6. Communication & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Present findings, insights, and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including management and operational teams.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness through regular communication and engagement with team members at all levels.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., ASP, GSP, or CSP) are a plus.
- 2 years of experience in a safety, risk, or analytical role, preferably in a safety-sensitive industry (e.g., manufacturing, construction, energy, logistics).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with safety management systems (SMS) and incident reporting software.
- Knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001) and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to data and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly present findings and recommendations.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels of the organization.
