This Production Supervisor (Blending) provides direct supervision of blending/mixing personnel and other departmental personnel as required. They ensure each shift is adequately staffed to meet the demand of the schedule. The Production Supervisor (Blending) is in charge of making sure that recipe papers are always stocked for mixers and blenders and that all rules and regulations relevant to the mixing area are followed.
- This position is designed and intended to be performed in Columbus, MS.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly supervises: Blending and Mixing personnel, mixing staff and supplemental temporary staff.
- Consultant with scheduler to follow the proper sequence.
- Overseeing the entire mixing and blending operation.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the entire blending and mixing operation.
- Direct shift activities to meet blending/mixing schedule, quality requirements, safety and tank rotation.
- Work together and communicate with the plant manager to ascertain the state of the mixing and blending area at this time to guarantee that the products and equipment available will fulfill the production schedule's expectations.
- Consultant with scheduler to follow proper sequence.
- Performing all picking work and updates in AX/ERP system.
- Coordinate with maintenance to perform any equipment required repairs as needed.
- Assist in the development of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and train employees in their use. Verify and audit, assure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage the rotation and washing of tanks.
- Keeping mixers and blenders stocked with recipe sheets.
- Coach, train and evaluate employee performance and ensure compliance with plant rules, SQF quality assurance systems, safety policies and GMP’s.
- Address all potential safety hazards and encourage all employees to do the same.
- Assist in all required training and record keeping for blending/mixing employees.
- Ensure accident reports and accident investigations are submitted for each incident, including near miss incidents.
- Adhere to all OSHA policies and procedures.
- Schedule, approve and arrange coverage for all production vacation requests.
- Maintain timekeeping system and paid time off systems/logs to assure management of staff hours, overtime, vacations and absences. Train employees on use of time clock and proper forms for time off requests
- Perform employee reviews as directed by HR, initiate progressive disciplinary action as required and work with HR to help resolve employee attendance or performance problems.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related business field preferred
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 to 4 years of lead or Supervisory experience in a Manufacturing setting
- Displays and executes good supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated attendance and work reliability.
- Must adhere to strict confidentiality in matters concerning Payroll, Human Resources and Company proprietary information.
- Proficient in the use of personal computers, particularly in the application of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong mechanical trouble shooting skills.
- Food industry experience and knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP and safety training desired.
- Must be able to tolerate standing for long periods of time.
