What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Associate position at Kent School Corporation?
The Admissions Associate will work, in collaboration with the entire team, to help support the development and execution for recruitment of mission-appropriate students for Kent School. This position participates in facets and phases of the admission process to include supervising the Tour Guide Program.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Supervises a team of student tour guides and provides them with work direction, training, and support. Works with student tour guides to best meet the needs of visitors and to ensure a warm and welcoming environment for visitors.
- Suggests strategies for continual improvement of the campus visit experience.
- Works collaboratively with the admissions interviewers to ensure a positive, seamless, and memorable experience for campus visitors.
- Prepares materials such as name tags, postcards, and materials for the tour guides/visitors.
- Resolves scheduling conflicts for tour guides or other issues independently in a professional and timely manner.
- Assists in planning large open houses and on-campus visit events that involve tour guides.
- Supports the Visit Coordinator in scheduling visitor appointments, gathering information on student interests, and assigning the appropriate student tour guide with the visiting student guest.
- Represents the school accurately and compellingly to prospective students and parents, educational consultants, and other constituencies who may directly or indirectly play a role in recruitment/admissions activities.
- Travel (domestically) in support of the marketing and recruitment goals of the school
- Develop and foster relationships with school administrators and teachers to further communicate future enrollment efforts.
- Communicate with prospective families in a polite, systematic, and efficient manner, including appropriate and timely follow-up.
- Interview applicants and families and provide a detailed report of the interview to the Admission Committee.
- Attend school fairs and visit partner schools as representatives of Kent School.
- Become proficient in the use of technology used to manage office recordkeeping and correspondence.
- Work in concert with the Director of Admissions on a variety of scheduled admissions events including but not limited to: Open Houses and Admission Receptions.
- Maintain an accurate record of travel and admission-related expenses.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in an independent school setting. A minimum of 3 years of hospitality/customer service experience is preferred.

- Able to work independently and make sound decisions with flexibility/adaptability and have a calm demeanor.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite, and have an aptitude for learning new technology.
- Be experienced in Veracross
- Understanding of current marketing trends and strategies.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Must be able to work in an office environment.
- Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Requires substantial movement (motions) of wrists, hands, and fingers with keyboard use.
- Ability to use visual display.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
Additional information:
Reports to: Director of Admissions Classification: Staff, non-exempt
Schedule/travel: Full-time calendar year position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (includes a ½ hour lunch period). Travel and additional hours, including evening and weekend hours, may be required. The schedule may vary according to the needs of the Admissions Office, visiting families, and Kent School.
