What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Worker position at Kent School Corporation?
Schedule/travel: Full-time calendar year position. The typical schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 am -7 pm (includes a ½ hour unpaid meal period). Additional hours may be required. Schedule may vary according to the Department and Kent School needs.
Position Summary:
Assist Baker with preparation as needed. Set up and maintain bake shop station during lunch and dinner service.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
Monitor station during service for quality and cleanliness. Ensure station is well stocked and fresh.
Assist in afternoon prep with the baker.
Watch bake shop during lunch and dinner service – restock bakery items, maintain soft serve machine, responsible for gluten-free items.
Inspect food for taste, quality, and overall appearance.
Recommend changes to improve quality, flavor, and cost efficiency.
Maintain a clean and safe environment based on federal, state and local sanitation requirements. FIFO. Ownership of your station’s refrigerator and storage areas. Labeling.
Communicate with co-workers in a constructive and positive manner.
Contribute to team effort by supporting other stations as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Ensure all items are labeled for allergens and identification.
Qualifications:
A combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in a busy cafeteria style environment. Servsafe certification is required (will be provided if needed)

- Show flexibility and adaptability; willingness to help team members if needed.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Requires employees to be on their feet for extended periods, and climb stairs.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work is performed on a smoke free campus.
