This role will be responsible for supporting all kitchen functions, including but not limited to food receiving, preparation and serving, while maintaining quality standards, safety and cleanliness.
In addition, this role focuses on supporting events across the KENT family of companies primarily at the KENT Conference Center and KENT Corporation Headquarters. The team operates from a modern, spacious kitchen at the KENT Conference Center, catering to a variety of events from large meetings (100 ) to small gatherings. - This position is designed and intended to be performed in Muscatine, IA.
- Hours: Availability on an as-needed basis, typically around 10 hours per week for larger events, with hours fluctuating based on event schedules and needs, but unlikely to exceed 20 hours per month.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to identified recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
- Prepare a variety of meats, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grille, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
- Maintain quality of products served
- Knows and complies consistently with generally accepted cooking methods, quality standards, and sanitation guidelines
- Handles, stores and rotates all products properly
- Brings forward suggestions for improvement
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods, other equipment, food storage areas and conference center spaces
- Oversee the set-up of spaces for training and meeting events
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum High School diploma or GED
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment preferred
- Certifications in food preparation and sanitation desired
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to communicate clearly with department managers, kitchen staff and Conference Center guests
- Ability to stand for longer periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry 11-20 lbs
