This critical role will perform testing on defined routine samples of products produced by Grain Processing Corporation, as well as additional special testing or projects as directed by the Analytical Services Manager or Department Chemists.
- This is a full-time, SALARIED position and offers an exceptional benefits package.
- This position is designed and intended to be performed in Washington, IN.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform required analytical testing and special assays for each lab, taking action as needed.
- Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment.
- Work on method/instrument development and validation projects as directed.
- Prepare and standardize chemical solutions and media.
- Follow good lab practices, including proper cleanup and safety habits.
- Use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to store lab data.
- Train and instruct new and existing employees as directed.
- Communicate effectively with Analytical Services co-workers, management, chemists, and production personnel.
- Issue and validate certificates of analysis for customer shipments and approve product shipments for release.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer an Associate's Degree in a Science related discipline, preferably Chemistry or Biology or relevant experience.
- Previous Laboratory experience preferred (entry level position – training provided).
- Ability to make decisions independently with little or no supervision.
- Proven communication (oral and written), organizational, math, and computer skills.
- Ability to pay attention to details.
OTHER:
- This position works a 12-hour rotating shift which includes working days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Overtime is required to cover vacancies, vacation, and training.
- Good sensory acuity (vision, smell etc.) needed for color and appearance evaluations of reagents and products and odor/ taste evaluations of product.
