What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Engineer/Specialist - Process position at Kent?
Kent is looking for a Principal Process Engineer to be based in our Houston, TX office and report to our Process and Process Safety Department Manager.
You will interact with other disciplines and groups on site, corporate technical networks and peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed to deliver engineering scopes for greenfield and brownfield projects in various phases of execution. Key activities include the development of technical deliverables to meet the schedule, scope, budget, and quality requirements of multi-discipline projects.
Prefer experience with larger projects, $250M TIC and prior experience working in Engineering Consultancies.
Skills and Responsibilities
- Provide process engineering leadership on single or multiple projects from conception through detailed design, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- SME level expertise in Flare and Relief Systems, Process Simulations (Steady State and Dynamic) and well versed in appropriate industry standards and software thereof
- Perform engineering studies, engineering design, specify process equipment, review, and analysis of vendor data to satisfy project requirements. Function as technical specialist to formulate and develop advanced engineering concepts.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements in processes
- Work on process simulations using industry state of the art software. Prepare engineering calculations as required.
- Provide technical support to the Business Development group and assist with proposal preparation.
- Define the project scope of work and design criteria.
- Ensure technical and quality compliance of scope of work with relevant standards and procedures consistent with project objectives. Conduct/follow Peer Check and Squad Check procedures for technical deliverables.
- Define scope of work and prepare estimate and schedule for process engineering portion of work in a project.
- Develop Engineering Manhour Estimates (EME). Establish the manpower loading and milestone schedule during proposals and during execution of projects. Issue progress status updates.
- Assign work tasks to other process engineers on the project team. Review and approve the work in accordance to company procedures and industry best standards.
- Hold client and vendors meetings. Hold intra-discipline coordination meetings and attend cross discipline coordination meetings.
- Demonstrate ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.
- Support leadership and work closely with Department Manager in activities to standardize best engineering practices within the group.

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
- BS or MS in Chemical Engineering and a minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in petrochemical, refining, oil and gas sectors.
- Offshore Oil and Gas Experience desired
- P.E. license desired.
- Knowledge of process engineering guidelines and standards.
- Requires advanced process design techniques, analyses, practices, and procedures for all aspects of process engineering work.
- MS Office (must be highly proficient in Excel and Word, working knowledge in Access).
- Highly Proficient in using Aspen HYSYS, Pro II and other simulation software.
- Familiar with commonly used process engineering standards and codes including but not limited to API, GPSA as well as commonly used process engineering software.

- Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal/rapport building skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and to plan/coordinate processes for results.
